Sylvio Giardina & Tania Alineri Performance at Spazio Taverna

The experience invited each guest into an intimate, wordless encounter guided by Sylvio Giardina through movement and gesture. Drawing on the intuitive language of dance, the interaction asked participants to let go of their usual social boundaries and place their trust in someone they often met for the first time. Through physical proximity and non-verbal communication, the performance explored vulnerability, mutual awareness, and the unexpected intimacy of connecting with another body.
The room became a space suspended outside ordinary time and social conventions. Guests entered in silence to find Giardina waiting beside a table, surrounded by a fixed frontal camera, a videomaker, eight photographers, and the Performance Coordinator. Giardina remained silent throughout, allowing movement alone to guide each encounter. The presence of cameras and photographers introduced a subtle tension, making the act of surrendering to the experience both unfamiliar and emotionally charged.
The performance was documented in real time by a fixed camera recording the entire encounter and eight photographers capturing the action from different positions. The clicks of the cameras, together with the sound of pencil moving across paper, formed the room’s only audible traces, making the act of documentation an integral part of the experience. As Performance Coordinator, Tania Alineri supervised the performance and coordinated the photographers, maintaining the conditions in which each encounter could unfold. Her presence was itself part of the environment, contributing to the carefully constructed relationship between performer, guest, and observers.

The title evokes the multiple meanings of the word, particularly the one it assumes in dance, where promenades are often performed in pairs and the partner holds the dancer with one or both hands, or provides support for the movement on the arm or shoulder.”
